MOSQUITO is the Portuguese film candidate for the Goya Awards 2021
MOSQUITO, by João Nuno Pinto, is under the spotlight once again. The Portuguese Academy of Cinema announced today that the film - which opened the Rotterdam Film Festival in January - will be the Portuguese candidate for a nomination for the Goya Awards in the category of Best Ibero-American Film.
In a statement, the Portuguese Film Academy concluded that «“ Mosquito ”, by director João Nuno Pinto, was the film selected by the Portuguese Film Academy as a candidate from Portugal for the category of Best Ibero-American Film, in the 35th edition of the Goya Awards. Produced by Leopardo Filmes in co-production with Alfama Films (France), APM Produções (Portugal), Delicatessen Filmes (Brazil) and Mapiko Filmes (Mozambique).»
According to Paulo Trancoso, president of the institution, "in spite of the pandemic context that we have been experiencing since the beginning of the year, and which has affected Portuguese cinema so much, in 2020 high quality films were released, as was the case of Mosquito.
The Goya Awards 2021 will take place on March 6.
