Premiere | CHUNGKING EXPRESS by Wong Kar Wai
CHUNGKING EXPRESS is the second film of the Wong Kar Wai World cycle and premieres on the big screen this Thursday, in a restored digital copy - 4K.
Under the neons of Hong Kong's urban landscape, two parallel stories explore the melancholy of lost love and the innocence of new passions. The first narrative follows Agent 223, a police officer who projects his destiny on a collection of pineapple cans whose expiration date is May 1st. An encounter with a mysterious woman wearing a blonde wig takes him out of his stagnant state. The second story unfolds around Agent 663 and the end of his relationship with a flight attendant, a tragedy that reaches the ears of a snack bar employee who starts looking for ways to cheer him up. With its vibrant colors and effervescent movement, CHUNGKING EXPRESS marked Wong Kar Wai's moment of internationalization.
