Sophia Awards 2020: THE DOMAIN wins in 7 categories
Yesterday night was dedicated to the Portuguese cinema. Organized by the Portuguese Film Academy, Casino do Estoril was the stage for the Sophia 2020 Awards ceremony.
THE DOMAIN, by Tiago Guedes, that had 15 nominations in 14 categories, took home 7 of the awards, including Best Film and Best Director. It was up to Paulo Branco to receive the award for best film, but the producer left it in suspense: “I will not take the award, I will take it next year if something changes between us all”, he said, concluding the call to end the “small guerrillas”, “little blows” and envy among film and audiovisual professionals.
Sandra Faleiro wins in the category of Best Leading Actress for her sublime interpretation, and Ana Vilela da Costa takes the award in the category of Best Supporting Actress. Rui Cardoso Martins was awarded for Best Original Screenplay along with Tiago Guedes. João Lança Morais' cinematography work and Roberto Perpignani's editing were also recognized winning in the respective categories.
